Satish Hanumantharao (Surname to not be confused with Late Mr. E. Hanumantha Rao) or H Satish as he is promninently known as is a freelance professional since 1981. Even though his academical background lies in the field of cinematography, he was more fond of capturing the sight of wildlife and landscapes. Ever since his childhood, he has been highly passionate about wildlife photography and he still strives to calibrate his skills and transform his style in capturing images of various subjects.
Clicking pictures wasn't merely a hobby for him, for he had the zeal to master the art ever since he was as young as 17. He pursued his hobbies seriously and later transformed it to a profession at a time when analogue cameras and 35mm film-strips ruled the industry. It is no doubt, photography even today is very expensive; but to an artist, it is his dream to fulfill. Today, he is a professional in the commercial and advertising section having worked with renowned government bodies and private organizations. His services vary from celebrations, corporate and commercial shoots, consumables(foods), events, hospitality and residences, industrial and interiors, to products.
Since 1985, is a regular participant in many national and international photo salons and has also been awarded in more than 800 instances.
His due contributions have been recognized by some of the world’s top photo bodies like the FIAP (Federation International De L'art Photographique), and the RPS (Royal Photographic Society of England), patronised by the Queen Elizabeth II. His list of honors and awards are unbound. Satish is the first and the youngest indian to be conferred the EFIAP (Excellence, FIAP) & MFIAP (Maitre or Master, FIAP) for nature color prints.
It is but apparent, that he has won many a competition garnering up to 800 and odd awards among which gold medals in China, Scotland, Austria, Finland and France are significant. Over a ton of his pictures have been exhibited in numerous national and international salons in various countries. He has been a part of the jury panel in numerous national and international salons of international repute. Most of his students have went on to become experts in their own fields and winners in many photo contests. The FIP, the supreme body for photography in India adjuged his set of Landscapes in Black and White, the best in ther first quarterly photo contest in 2018.

His expertise in nature, black & white, landscapes and travel has been recognized by many in India. He is a part of the jury panel for many national and international salons across the world. His love for light and color has taken him across the subcontinent, and needless to say he is an avid traveler and has traveled all over India over 50 times, photographing its people, diverse culture, exquisite traditions, amazing landscapes, and vivid wild life.
He has also visited 4 other countries for photography. He has in his possession some 2 million pictures on all subjects in both analaog and digital medium.
Weekends are dedicated to his photography, where he goes out of the city in search of subjects to capture. It also helps him as a stressbuster from his professional services. Throughout the year, he frequents wildlife parks and sanctuaries, as well as some of the top destinations for landscapes like the Himalayas and Ladakh. As long as he is available in his hometown, he makes sure he mentors youngsters who are keen in learning this beautiful art form.
He has also nurtured students from CMR Institute of Technology in Bengaluru. Datalife Cycle Pvt. Ltd based in Bangalore has relied on Satish to train their employees learn the basics of photography. He actively organizes workshops, landscape and wildlife photo tours for those interested. He has travelled the length and breadth of the country throughout his life.
He is also an avid mountaineer and a champion in Carrom.
Since May 2016, he is the President of the Youth Photographic Society© (YPS), one of India's most prestigious photo clubs. It is mentored and nurtured by some of India’s most famous and successful photographers. The club has around 400 Life and Individual members and frequently hosts programs on every Saturday at the State Youth Center in Nrupathunga Road, Bengaluru.
